I got my birthday cake here and it was memorable! The sponge cake was light and fluffy. The whipped cream was not that sweet, which is a compliment for an Asian household. You could choose different fruit options to add to your cake. I got the strawberry one and we all enjoyed it.

We just celebrated the Moon Festival 2924! We are so happy that Huy Ký continues to make their moon cakes! The moon cakes we bought this year are really fresh, filled with mixed nuts, citric fruits rinds, 2 large salted egg yolks (yummy)! These are sweet delights and can be very filling. One can enjoy with hot or cold tea, coffee, roasted barley, etc. The sweetness is right on for the traditional recipe of moon cakes. My personal preference is to have less less sweet, less sugar. It would be great if Huy Ky can make two separate batches, one with the original sweetness and one alternative to be less sweet and less sugar. It would be awesome! Thank you Huy Ky Bakery. PS: Huy Ky Bakely is in San San Diego, CA. We do not live in SD and can still get their moon cakes at their distributed Vietnamese markets nearby in Orange County, CA.

I worked with Kim at Huy Ky Bakery and it was a wonderful and delightful experience! I knew I wanted an Asian cake that wasn't too sweet or processed. Kim gladly accommodated all of my needs and requirements, even peanut allergies, and we had a delicious strawberry taro sponge cake. She was super responsive and kind throughout all of our communications. Our guests absolutely loved it and it was a hit! Truly a hidden gem in San Diego area -- I'll update once I get official photos from my vendors back but for now here is the photo I got of us cutting the cake from our guests!

My first visit to Huy Ky Bakery. I picked up mooncakes as a gift for the owners of Paris Bakery, who are presently engaged in opening a new outlet in Chula Vista called Banh Mi Paris Express. Huy Ky's owner, Mr. Yu, was helpful as I made my selection, and was gracious, offering me a peek behind the scenes at his work area, which is nicely set up with an impressive array of professional baking equipment. He also pulled up a video to show me how he makes his mooncakes, an enterprise that is much more complicated than I'd imagined. Having seen these things, and after spending a few minutes chatting with Mr. Yu, I'm not surprised that Huy Ky Bakery is a favorite source for mooncakes and other baked delights among San Diego's Vietnamese community. I'll be back! ********** See how mooncakes are made! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx4dIRi1hZY

I come here for the cakes! They don't do super fancy decorated ones but it's freshly baked, the sponge cake is so soft, the buttercream is light, airy with the right amount of sweetness and the price is great! With at least a 24 hour notice, you can get a two tier cake for next day pickup. There's different flavors to choose from, the price depends on size and filling that you order. If mooncakes are your thing, this is the place to get them as well. Stop by, everyone is super helpful & friendly.
